National Grid is leading the largest upgrade to the UK’s electricity network in decades – connecting cleaner energy, strengthening energy security, and enabling economic growth.
As a Senior Document Controller, you’ll play a key role in keeping critical project information flowing – ensuring the right data is available at the right time to support safe, efficient delivery. You’ll be embedded within a major Strategic Infrastructure project in North Wales, working across multiple delivery partners to manage and control information throughout the full project lifecycle. This role offers hybrid working, with 2–3 days per week on site. Primary sites are in the Porthmadog area, North Wales, with additional project offices in Pentir (near Bangor) and occasional travel to Birmingham (approximately three times per month).
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage and maintain the Common Data Environment (CDE) in line with naming and metadata standards
- Drive workflows, ensuring timely reviews, approvals, and close-out
- Control document issue and distribution to internal and external stakeholders
- Oversee RFI and Technical Query (TQ) processes and reporting
- Maintain the Master Document Register for project deliverables
- Support Project Managers with TIDP reviews and supplier coordination
- Administer project SharePoint and support onboarding to ACC CDE
- Manage user access and conduct regular system audits
- Provide clear reporting on document status and performance
- Coach and support teams on document control best practice
What we’re looking for:
- Experience as a Document Controller on large infrastructure or construction projects
- Strong understanding of document control processes, versioning, and audit compliance
- Experience working in ISO 19650-aligned environments
- Expertise in EDMS platforms (e.g. ACC, Aconex, Viewpoint)
- Proven experience managing a CDE in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Ability to influence standards and drive consistency across project teams
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
What you’ll get:
A competitive salary between £47,000 - £56,000 – dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
