An opportunity is available for a Planning Team Leader based at Leicester or Kettering.

Reporting to the Team Manager you will supervise a group of Planners and Admin Assistants. Your role is to ensure work is scheduled and delivered efficiently, and carried out safely and in line with H&S requirements.

You will be responsible for the effective performance of your team, driving performance improvement through individual 1:1s, leading the team’s productivity and delivering excellent customer service. As a Team Leader, you will lead by example and prioritise building strong relationships, trust and a supportive working environment for your team.

Working closely with colleagues across the Field Operations teams to support the wider business with work volumes & customer service is essential to ensure success in this role.

* Please note the starting salary will be £43,491 until training is successfully completed at which point will increase to £47,197.

This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check. Depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor Connection dashboards; including BMCS Time to Connect, Time to Quote, GS & KPIs
  • Support the Planning Team Manager and lead your team to ensure full compliance of H&S policy
  • Mentor and develop the team, acting as a role model and driving performance through effective leadership
  • Support team with Quotation and Delivery issues
  • Ensure work is carried out in line with policy &operating procedures
  • Ensure our people have the appropriate training & work authorisations to support a safe and productive working environment
  • Effectively ensure your team’s productivity and take action to maintain high performance standards
  • Respond quickly and professionally to customer complaints to reach a satisfactory resolution for the customer and NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution)
  • Approve purchase orders within financial authorisation limits
  • Monitor efficiency & finances of small projects and project closure process
  • Approve projects creation in internal system
  • Approve customer refunds on enquiries within financial authorisation limits
  • Review / approve contractor invoices in crown for SSA / SSB projects
  • Support the Planning Team Manager with customer service feedback and implementing learning opportunities

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an excellent communicator, who is organised and has the ability to problem solve and plan ahead.

We’re looking for someone who has a proven track record of managing teams,and is experienced in being an escalation point for both internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll need:

A good understanding of Health & Safety Legislation and Electricity Safety/Quality & Continuity regulations, or the ability/willingness to quickly develop this

A willingness and ability to understand NGED planning & design policies

An understanding of the distribution business or the ability/willingness to quickly develop this

The demonstrable ability to effectively manage and drive performance

Some Commercial and Financial awareness
