How can you play a key role in maintaining the electricity network with National Grid? We have an excellent opportunity for you to be an integral member of our OHL Operations team across England/Wales. We’ll provide you with all the top tech, tools, equipment and PPE to get the job done safely. We can provide you with job security, job satisfaction and challenge you with a diverse workload.

You’ll be working in a team on a variety of jobs from line repairs, fault investigations and replacing damaged or worn-out assets; either way you’ll obviously be comfortable working at heights. This ideal candidate would be based in Bristol or Southwest.

We’ll get you up to speed with expert training at our Centre of Excellence at Eakring, Nottinghamshire and other venues which will require short stays away from home. There’ll also be opportunities to work around the country if you want it, this will come with financial benefits such as generous overnight allowances, accommodation and mobility payments when working away from your base location.

Requirements:
  • A minimum Level 2/3 Apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering or an NVQ/Level 3 electrical or mechanical qualification with the relevant experience is required.
  • You’ll have experience of 132kV, 275kV or 400kV OHL work, can climb towers with a head for heights and enjoy working outside in all conditions due to the nature of this work.
  • We’re looking for you to demonstrate safe working practices and honed OHL skills, be a team player with the flexibility to travel to other areas when required.
  • You can use a computer and are comfortable working at heights.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • You can work away as you’ll be required to work away from home contractually on a voluntary basis.
Pay and Benefits Package:
  • Starting salary £40,581 pa including allowance (progressing on completion of training to £42,835 pa) + Paid overtime.
  • Seasonal Allowance of £1871 paid monthly or yearly.
  • Hours - 37 Av Monday to Friday, Days only (Winter 36 hrs / Summer 38 hrs - 4 day working pattern).
  • We’ll provide you with a company vehicle – business use only.
  • 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days.
  • The option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. Totalling 18%.
