An opportunity has arisen for an Operator (Fitting) based at our Hinckley Depot.

As an Operator you will assist a Craftsperson with general site work associated with the repair, maintenance and construction of plant and switchgear up to 33kV. In addition you will be required to undertake substation inspections.

To apply, you willneed to holdEnglish & MathsGCSE (1-9/G-A*) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service, (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.

Main Responsibilities

The work involves being away from the depot, carrying out substation and other inspections and sometimes assisting a Craftsperson and working in a team of two people. The environment requires you to be able to react quickly, decisively and responsibly.

You will also need to be flexible in your approach to assist the team in meeting its objectives.

Ideal Candidate

Some electrical experience would be an advantage, however full training will be given. The role is suitable for someone who enjoys the demands of a physical outdoor environment.

You will need to be mobile throughout the area and therefore a full driving license is required.
