Operator - Asset Inspector role at National Grid, Taunton (covering Taunton and Crewkerne).
An Operator (Asset Inspector) inspects National Grid\'s Distribution network assets up to 132kV and other assets within the Company that have a statutory inspection regime.
Responsibilities
- Inspect assets up to 132kV and other Company assets with statutory inspection regimes.
- Interrogate the Company\'s computer systems to identify inspection tasks due.
- Drive to site to undertake inspections and record results and any immediate risks or dangerous issues to the manager.
- Enter all information on site using a handheld electronic device or the Company\'s computer system back in the office.
Qualifications
- English & Maths GCSE (1-9 / G-A*) or equivalent qualification (e.g., Functional Skills). Evidence of qualifications required prior to appointment.
Experience/Requirements
- May initially be appointed at a lower salary until relevant courses and training are complete.
- Be mobile around the area; full driving licence required.
- Ability to work alone and away from the depot; may involve travel to sites.
- Some National Grid positions may require working at height with fall arrest devices; there is an upper weight limit of 130kg for safety equipment.
- Operationally, live within approximately 30 minutes of the Taunton depot; travel to Crewkerne will be required.
