At National Grid Electricity Transmission, we\’re looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Mobile Process Rig Attendant to join our Oil Management Unit team. This is your opportunity to play a key role in supporting the National Grid as we manage our critical infrastructure.

In this role you will maintain the safe and efficient operation of the OMU mobile processing units at substation sites across the UK. You will ensure a safe working environment at each location, effectively deliver allocated projects, and comply with all site requirements. Additionally, you will monitor environmental performance and requirements to provide assurance and compliance.

This role is based out of our Doncaster Thorpe Marsh office with travel to other substations.

What You\\\’ll Do

  • Operate the OMU mobile oil processing units on a shift working basis, making inspections and adjustments to the operation of the equipment during processing.
  • Monitor safety, quality and environmental issues, taking actions as necessary, suspending the operation if required.
  • Assist Mobile Technicians and Operators in the transportation, set-up, start-up, completion and return of the mobile processing units.
  • Provide the customer interface for oil processing work at substations during periods of shift working.
  • Complete periodic maintenance such as replacing filters, strainers and coellessors and carrying out annual maintenance routines.
  • Provide assistance to Mobile Technicians and Operators to undertake fault finding and repairs such as pump replacements.
  • Provide cover and complete other duties at the OMU facilities as required including tanker deliveries and collections, tank farm operation, mobile tank preparation and maintenance, plant operation and bushing oil preparation.
  • Complete housekeeping and site maintenance, site routines and inspections as required.
  • Carry out inspections, testing and ordering to ensure all equipment and vehicles are available for use.

What You\\\’ll Have

  • Full Driving Licence
  • HGV Class 1
  • Forklift licence to 5t
  • NVQ Level 2 in Waste Management or be prepared to work towards this qualification.
  • Practical understanding of the operation of equipment, diagnostics and analysis of results.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the Environmental Permitting Regulations and the Waste Management Licensing Regulations. Environmental knowledge in respect of hazardous waste and a proven ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of NG Safety Rules, National Safety Instructions and Working Procedures
  • Practical experience of substations works on transformers, oil circuit breakers and technical knowledge relating to the safety aspects of substation plant and equipment.
