You\’ll be a key member of the Substations team, we are looking for skilled Mechanical Fitters who enjoy working outdoors and live within the vicinity of the advertised locations. It\’s a great opportunity to develop your engineering skills with a large variety of works in a unique environment.

Pay and Benefits

  • Starting salary – £40,196 pa including allowance.
  • North Kent and Luton starting salary £45,136 pa including allowances.
  • London starting salary £51,166 pa to £52,266 pa including allowances.
  • Paid overtime + Bonus

  • Hours – 37 Av Monday to Friday, Days only (Winter 36 hrs / Summer 38 hrs – 4 day working pattern).

Role Overview

Mechanical Fitters take on the responsibility of maintaining a wide range of duties on Substation plant and equipment. This work is predominately outdoors and includes breakdowns, installation of new equipment, refurbishment and maintenance of existing equipment, fault investigation and repair as well as routine condition monitoring. You\’ll benefit from our industry-leading training at our facilities based in Eakring, Nottinghamshire and other substation sites, a training programme will be provided which will may require occasional stays away from home, with generous mobility and overnight allowances.

You\’ll join a team of fitters stripping down and rebuilding of high voltage equipment replacing worn/aged components. Maintaining complex 275kV and 400kV circuit breakers, transformers, high speed on load tap changers and cable systems, plus all kinds of ancillary equipment such as DC battery systems and air compressors. Throughout the year there are some requirements for weekend work which overtime will be paid. We offer on-the-job and formal training opportunities for development.

Requirements:

  • A minimum Level 2/3 recognised apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical engineering OR an NVQ/Level 3 electrical or mechanical qualification with the relevant fitting experience is required.
  • You can demonstrate practical engineering skills – Installations, breakdown, repair and maintenance experience, strip down and rebuild, working to Safety Procedures, problem solving and following work specifications to maintain equipment.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence.
  • You can use a computer and iPad.
  • You live within 30 mins travel of site

Desirable

  • High voltage engineering experience
  • NEBOSH, IOSH.
