Overview

Exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join the Major Projects Capital Delivery team in Stoke or Telford.

This team delivers major construction, reinforcement, and new connection schemes across the 33/66/132k V network, ensuring safe and reliable operation of essential infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and control project work across plant, overhead, and underground systems.
  • Ensure project safety with strict compliance to Construction and Design Management (CDM) 2015 regulations.
  • Manage multiple projects to a recognised project management standard (APM), including forecasting and delivering construction and financial milestones.
  • Manage project‑related network risk.
  • Procure and manage contractors, ensuring suppliers meet safety, quality and performance expectations.
  • Carry out Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties.
  • Support the maintenance and problem‑solving of existing plant and equipment.
  • Lead on commissioning and maintenance of protection systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Practical knowledge of protection and control systems, including experience of commissioning equipment.
  • Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status with operational authorisation up to 132k V.
  • Experience working within a DNO, i DNO or ICP environment.
  • Proven background in a high‑hazard industry with a strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Familiarity with plant specifications and confidence tackling technical challenges.
  • Level3 City & Guilds 2339 qualification.
  • Completion of either HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Foundation Degree in Electrical Power Engineering (required if not already achieved).

  • Mobility & Duties

Role requires mobility across the network services area and participation in standby duties according to a pre‑determined rota.
