About the role
This is the time for action - we need to move at pace and reform our energy system - to deliver energy security, to tackle climate change and to protect our people. As a Senior Project Manager, you'll take endâtoâend ownership of major infrastructure projects working closely with project teams, managing complex EPC contracts, whilst driving strong performance, robust governance, and high standards of health, safety and environmental management. You will also deliver on our regulatory, stakeholder and customer commitments. Within this role you will proactively identify and manage risk, shaping and tracking mitigations that ensure successful outcomes. As a Senior Project Manager in this team, there will be the need for you to be present in our Birmingham project office a few times a week, whilst also having the ability to travel to project sites across England when required.

- Accountable for the management of the change and decisions process; ensuring scope, cost, and programme impacts are assessed, controlled, and approved through robust governance.
- Develop sanctions, and deliver the optimal solution and best value to the consumer.
- Identify early signs of project deviation and implement timely corrective actions to maintain delivery against cost, programme, and quality objectives.
- Having the vision to see where your projects fit in, as part of National Grid as a whole. You can cultivate excellent relationships with other departments and have the insight to appreciate their challenges, and that sometimes their needs will take priority.
- Using your knowledge of NEC contracts to support the production of those written by your project managers, limiting National Grid's exposure to risk.
- Knowing when it is appropriate to elevate a dispute, and knowing what support to call in.

- Driving a positive safety culture for project managers and contractors alike. You will also ensure your project managers are visible on site and contributing to a safe and collaborative team environment.
- Ensuring visible and accessible communications are in place throughout the life of a project, such as safety charters and notifications of incidents and lessons learnt. You will also share good practices and good catches, and reinforce positive behaviours.
- Making people feel they can talk to you. For example, if there are any safety incidents colleagues know they can speak freely to help you arrive at a clear understanding of events.
What youâll get
A competitive salary up to ÂŁ80,000 dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 30% based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
