The Executive Communications Specialist is a superpowered storyteller and strategic communicator, dedicated to elevating National Grid's voice on the external stage. In this role, you will help craft and amplify high-impact communication strategies that bring our key messages and corporate priorities to life for external stakeholders. You will partner closely with executive leadership, ensuring their external communications are crystal clear, compelling, and flawlessly aligned with National Grid's mission and objectives. With a strong focus on financial PR, you will help shape the narrative around our financial performance, strategy, and market position—translating complex information into messaging that resonates.

Working across cross-functional teams, you will boost the visibility, credibility, and reputation of National Grid's leadership, helping them show up with confidence, consistency, and undeniable impact. This role is all about influence, clarity, and creating communications that don’t just inform—they energise.

What you will be getting up to:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of communication strategies that support the executive leadership team’s objectives and enhance National Grid’s reputation.
  • Collaborate with executives to prepare speeches, presentations, and other communication materials that effectively convey key messages and initiatives.
  • Ensure that all executive communications align with National Grid’s brand messaging and corporate values.
  • Monitor and analyse feedback from internal and external stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of executive communications and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Support the coordination of executive events, including media interviews and public appearances, ensuring that all communications are well-prepared and delivered.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, media coverage, and public sentiment to provide strategic insights to executive leadership.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including media representatives, industry partners, and community leaders, to enhance the visibility of National Grid’s leadership.

About you:

  • Experience in executive communications, corporate communications, financial public relations - preferably within the energy, utilities, or corporate sectors.
  • Strong understanding of communication strategies, messaging frameworks, and best practices in stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence diverse stakeholders.

What’s in it for you:

  • A competitive salary between £46,000 - £57,000 per annum - dependent on capability.
  • As well as your base salary, you will receive a contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
