National Grid is hiring for two positions currently – x2 Lead Transmission Engineers for Protecion & Control – These position can be based from our Warwick, Bristol, London or Leeds offices (however we can be open to other locations accross the country.) Hybrid Working model. Job Purpose You will be involved in the delivery of a wide range of Protection and Control projects, from single asset replacements to new build substations. This role will challenge you with a variety of existing and new technologies as you participate in the upgrade of our electricity transmission system to meet our Net Zero commitments. What you\’ll do Specify, assess, and assure equipment for use on the electricity transmission system. Confirm designs from suppliers and contractors stage by stage, ensuring compliance with National Grid standards to maintain a secure and reliable electricity supply. Join a technical team that supports the Protection and Control of the electricity transmission system across England and Wales throughout its entire lifecycle, including development, tendering, delivery, and operation. Support both delivery and operational teams with the design, development, and commissioning of Protection and Control systems. Visit suppliers for Factory Acceptance Testing, assure designs, and review and calculate relay settings. Share your knowledge and expertise by delivering training to junior team members, mentoring, and supporting the wider team. About you HND or degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience. Knowledge and experience in: Protection and Control system design activities. Protection relay settings. Commissioning new equipment onto a transmission system. Writing technical documentation. Ability to share knowledge and expertise for coaching and mentoring. Willingness to learn and apply new processes and procedures. Valid driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK.
