About the role

We are looking for a Lead EPC (Electricity, Procurement and Construction) Project Manager to join our London & South-East team within the Infrastructure Delivery business unit, with the immediate focus being London Power Tunnels 2. This is a £1 billion project to rewire South London via 32km of new underground tunnels and cables and is vital to help keep Londoners connected to safe and reliable electricity supplies. You’ll be accountable for delivering the high-profile complex project safely, to quality and to time within regulatory allowances.

At the heart of delivering one of our major new infrastructure projects, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team of Project Managers and Project Supervisors through the whole project life cycle, from identifying the correct funding stream, operational and environmental optioneering/option selection, development of early design strategies and being accountable for detailed design, contract award and production of construction delivery Programmes, including regulation, governance and procurement activities.

Summary of Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the investment process during pre-construction, delivery and closure for complex projects ensuring governance is maintained throughout.
  • Evaluate multiple project drivers.
  • Develop, support, sanction, and deliver the optimal solution and best value to the consumer.
  • Obtain regulatory approval for your project.
  • Ensure internal and contractor compliance with Health & Safety, CDM & Environmental legislation as well as adherence to National Grid SHES standards.
  • Enact/Support the role of Client\’s Delegated Representative and where appropriate, Principal Designer or arrange for the provision of Principle Designer for each project as required under CDM Regulations.
  • Assess the need for and Monitor Front End Engineering Design (FEED) support; and control their activities.
  • Provide regular project status reports – financial forecasting, SHESQ performance, milestone progress & risk management data.

About You

You’ll be an accomplished project manager with experience of delivering complex high value projects, safely, on time and to budget, leading several teams.

We’re looking for someone who is motivated and committed to getting their projects delivered, with the ability to support and mentor the wider team, developing capability and resilience.

You’ll have a background in project management/engineering, have strong commercial acumen and experience leading cross functional teams in an operational environment with a good understanding of financial management and reporting at Portfolio level.

You will need a driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK, and your time will be spent between home, office and site.
