  • Assess HVDC & FACTS solutions (including but not limited to reinforcement options) to manage HVDC & FACTS performance requirements in the transmission network.
  • Identifying and anticipating new and future Power System phenomena, challenges and considerations across all network investment planning time horizons.
  • Lead the production of strategies for the holistic development of the transmission system, including strategies for contestable opportunities and regulatory outperformance strategies.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to establish new/modify existing codes and practices to reflect new technologies, market initiatives and changes, design policy and solutions, and impacts of specific new customer types.
  • Prepare and present technical information to Supplier/OFGEM/BEIS and other appropriate technical panels or groups.
  • Provide specialist power system input to support planning applications, including supporting the production of public-facing documentation and providing expert representation at planning hearings.
  • Provide specialist input into technical content for LOTI and MSIP need case submissions, leading on the drivers for the works and the identification and assessment of design options.
  • Drive efficiency improvements in the approach to major pieces of work in the Network Development team through new approaches, clear activity scoping and controls.
  • Able to utilise and apply Power System resource dynamically with peers to deliver the key objectives of the Network Development department.
  • Undertake day to day management of the team including workload, resource management, performance management, safety issues and personal development plans.
