National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.
Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.
About the Position
Are you ready to help shape the future of our workforce? As an Associate Analyst in Strategic Workforce Planning, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that National Grid’s Electric business has the right-sized workforce and critical roles needed to complete projects and serve our communities. You will support the business through data modeling to identify workforce recruitment needs and capabilities as well as data backed plans to ensure we get the right talent. You will also support measuring the business performance to ensure we are on track towards meeting our employee actuals vs budget targets. This is a hybrid role that can be based in Waltham, Northboro, or Worcester, MA.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll be a key player in building the future of National Grid. Here’s what you’ll be up to:
- Workforce Strategy Development: Assist in creating regional workforce strategies to align with Capital Delivery’s planning model.
- Forecasting Needs: Use strategic data visuals, and strategic data modeling to forecast future workforce requirements and costs.
- Record Management: Set up and manage systems for business planning forecasts and key decisions to address workforce demand aligned with Finance and our Strategic Business Plan.
- KPI Production: Develop and support KPIs to track hiring, critical roles and recruitment efforts.
- Collaboration: Work with regional teams to incorporate local data on attrition and utilization factors, validating workforce plan interventions.
- High-Quality Analysis: Deliver thorough analysis of workforce data to evaluate resource requirements and explore options like recruitment and staffing strategies.
- Data Evaluation: Analyze existing and new data sources to help teams understand and utilize data more intuitively.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Business, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026
- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
It would be awesome if you
- Data modeling experience with strong Excel experience with v-lookups and other formulas needed
- Strong PowerPoint presentation skills with capabilities in data story telling
- Organized, prioritize, time management skills
- Out of the box thinker with capabilities to problem solve
- Strong stakeholder management with project management skills
- Power BI and Orgvue experience preferred but not required

Salary Range
Waltham, Northboro, or Worcester MA $69,000 – $81,000 a year
You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
