You will be responsible for developing and executing complex procurement strategies for capital programmes within ET. This will involve engaging and building strong cross-functional relationships with stakeholders across the business, within procurement, and externally. • Collaborate with Procurement Programme Managers and stakeholder counterparts to define forward-thinking procurement strategies-including delivery models, commercial constructs, and go-to-market approaches-to proactively prepare internal teams and the supply chain.
  • Lead the coordination of Procurement teams, bringing together category managers, supply chain risk experts, strategic supplier leads, and market development specialists to build cohesive strategies across capital programmes.
  • Drive end-to-end procurement programme management, owning programme plans, navigating matrix teams, managing critical paths, and mitigating risks to ensure timely contract awards.
  • Integrate into cross-functional teams to gain market insights and capacity intelligence, enabling stronger, data-informed supply chain planning.
  • Take ownership of assessing and mitigating key procurement risks that could impact strategy delivery, fostering a proactive risk management culture across stakeholders and Business Unit leaders.
  • Consolidate procurement performance across teams to support Business Unit reporting and strategic decision-making.
  • Role model excellence in procurement and programme delivery, mentoring colleagues, and championing best-in-class methodologies across National Grid Procurement.

What You’ll Have:

  • MCIPS qualified (or working towards) with proven strategy experience in construction capital procurement on large-scale infrastructure or construction programmes.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and experience of programme management.
  • Experience of managing capital procurement programmes within a supply chain/commercial context.
  • Demonstrable ability to forge strong relationships with key stakeholders and supply chain.
  • Ability to develop and implement complex commercial models and have a strong understanding of NEC4 Contract forms (A, C, E), procurement of design and construction contracts.
  • Track record of delivering complex procurements in highly regulated environments, driving strategic outcomes and commercial value.

What You'll Get:

  • A competitive salary of £50,000-£58,000- dependent on capability.
  • As well as your base salary you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
  • You will also have access to several flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
