As an Assistant Connections Coordinator Advanced Apprentice at National Grid, you’ll be part of our Customer Network Development (CND) team, playing a key role in connecting homes, businesses, and communities to the energy network. Within this role, you will contribute to National Grid’s mission to enable the energy transition and support a more sustainable future. The CND team is actively redesigning how customers are connected to energy, focusing on reducing lead times and improving customer satisfaction. You’ll help drive innovation and shape the future of energy connections.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for customer inquiries, delivering high-quality service and managing expectations throughout the connection process.
  • Support key steps in the connection journey, such as tracking applications and supporting project delivery.
  • Work with Customer Connections and regional teams to organise customer meetings and keep everything running smoothly.
  • Maintain accurate system data and records, ensuring timely submissions to Ofgem and managing internal platforms.
  • Support the transition to Net Zero and RIIO-T2 by helping improve data and contribute to customer strategy.

Location

This role is based in the Warwick office and may offer flexible and hybrid working throughout the programme. You will be required to attend training at our Training Centre in Eakring, Newark, which may involve multiple and frequent nights away from home. Stakeholder and site-based meetings are likely, requiring travel that can be arranged via public transport if you do not drive.

About you

You will need to have:

  • Minimum of five GCSEs with grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), including English language and Maths or equivalent.
  • Be at least 18 years of age by the start date of the programme (1 September 2026).
  • No prior work experience is required; determination and a will to succeed are far more important. The role will develop a variety of transferrable skills to support your career development within National Grid.
