You’ll be a key member of the Cheshire team; we are looking for an industrial electrical skilled individual living within 30 minutes travel of Capenhurst, CH1 6HE. It’s a great opportunity to develop your engineering skills with a large variety of works in a unique environment.

Pay And Benefits

  • Salary package £40,197 pa including allowance.
  • Paid overtime + Bonus (2025 – up to 4%) + Company commercial vehicle and fuel from home to work.
  • Hours – 37 Av Monday to Friday, Days only (Winter 36 hrs / Summer 38 hrs – 4 day working pattern).
  • 26 days holiday plus 8 statutory days.

Fitter Overview

Electrical fitters are responsible for maintaining a wide range of works on substation plant and equipment. This work is predominantly outdoors and sometimes at height on a mobile platform. You’ll join a team of fitters stripping down and rebuilding high voltage equipment, replacing worn or aged components. Maintaining complex 400kV circuit breakers, transformers, high‑speed on‑load tap changers and cable systems, plus all kinds of ancillary equipment such as DC battery systems, air compressors and generators. The environment can be high‑pressure where some work needs to be completed quickly as it is time‑sensitive, including installation of new equipment, refurbishment and maintenance of existing equipment, fault investigation and repair, and routine condition monitoring. You’ll benefit from our industry‑leading training at our facilities based in Eakring, Nottinghamshire and other local substation sites. A training programme will be provided which will require occasional stays away from home, with generous mobility and overnight allowances. Throughout the year there are some requirements for weekend work which overtime will be paid. We offer on‑the‑job and formal training opportunities for development.

Requirements

  • A recognised apprenticeship in Electrical engineering OR an NVQ/Level 3 Electrical qualification with the relevant fitting experience is required.
  • You can demonstrate practical industrial engineering skills – installations, breakdown, repair and maintenance experience, fault finding, strip down and rebuild, working to safety procedures, problem solving and following work specifications to maintain equipment.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • You can use a computer and iPad.
  • You live within 30 minutes travel of Capenhurst, Cheshire, CH1 6HE.

Desirable

  • High voltage engineering experience.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH.
  • MEWP licence.
