Pay and Benefits
- Starting salary £47,442 pa – while you are in training.
- Rayleigh and Luton starting salary – £52,382 pa including outer London allowance.
- London only starting salary – £58,412 to £59,512 pa including London allowance.
- 37 Hours per week Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm (Days only).
- Paid overtime, standby allowance + call out fee.
- Job requirement Company car (Full Electric or Hybrid).

Role Overview
This role initially is all about the training to start with, although we do require you to have practical engineering skills as per the requirements. You\’ll join one of our regional teams, where you will spend the first 18 – 24 months on a training programme gaining experience on-site and, in the classroom, (with short stays away from home) building your skill base and safety authorisations needed to take the next big step.
Once you are qualified this is when things change. You will move into the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) role with an increase in base salary to £56,374 pa. Leading teams of fitters and contractors on high voltage substation projects ensuring they are set to work in the correct manner, including the provision of risk assessments and method statements, and that toolbox talks take place.
Managing, monitoring and reviewing progress on safety critical works. Undertake site delivery activities of projects as the appointed temporary works co-ordinator and principle contractor as defined in CDM regs, and helping keep the UK\’s electricity network running smoothly. You\’ll also join a standby rota for emergency call outs – earning additional payments for your expertise and availability.
Requirements:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3/ONC in Electrical Engineering qualification.
- You have practical engineering skills – installations, breakdown, repair and maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Ability to read electrical schematic drawings, produce risk assessments and method statements.
- Ability to use test equipment and interpret maintenance results.
- You must be able to commit and attend training courses at our Eakring site in Nottinghamshire and other sites which will require short stays away from home to complete your training.
- You will be available for standby rota providing reactive call outs for emergencies, due to this you will live within travel 45 mins ofsite.
- A driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK.
