We have a vacancy for a Craftsperson (Overhead Lines) based in Devon covering Torquay & Exeter. In this role, you will undertake construction, maintenance, replacement, and repair of overhead lines up to and including 66kV. This diverse role involves working in challenging terrain and weather, often at height, so experience in these conditions will be beneficial.
Candidates are required to have Grade A C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or a Functional Skills Level qualification in both subjects. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment. Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will ideally have experience working on overhead cables or at heights. Consideration will also be given to candidates with the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards through training. You will need to study for the relevant City & Guilds qualification and complete TAR, including daily diary entries and reports.
You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, making decisions on the spot and working under tight deadlines. Flexibility is essential, as you may need to undertake other duties and be mobile within the area, including standby duties. You should live within approximately 30 minutes of the relevant depot. Please note, for roles involving working at height or fall arrest devices, there is an upper weight limit of 130kg due to safety equipment constraints.
