An opportunity is available for a Property Assistant to provide professional support services to colleagues in the National Grid Electricity Distribution Property team. This is a temporary opportunity for 12 months, subject to review. Preferably the role will be based in Castle Donnington or Bristol, but we may be able to consider other locations. As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist colleagues on a variety of casework across the property team relating to capital projects and property management.
  • Maintain electronic record systems, deal with incoming enquiries, and communicate verbally and in writing to landowners, landlords and a wide range of external stakeholders.
  • Ensure rent payments are made on time, collate information, prepare plans, assist with bespoke reports and presentations as well as a range of other administration tasks.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, ensure the Company’s property rights are protected, and continually question costs and take action to improve efficiency.

Ideal Candidate

  • A working understanding of property principles, related legislation and its relevance in relation to the activities of the department including an ability to interpret legal documents.
  • Negotiation skills that are consistent with the requirements of the role with the ability to gain the best deal for the Company, balancing the needs of the Company, the customer and/or landowner.
  • Excellent oral and presentation skills with the ability to persuade, convince and influence others.
  • The ability to work within a team environment and flexibility to assist colleagues in all of the teams within Electricity Distribution Property.
  • Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise reports, correspondence to customers, land agents, solicitors, local authorities and external stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word applications.
  • Numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and information and produce it in a clear and logical format.
  • A pro-active and creative approach to problem solving.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check, depending on the role different levels of screening and vetting are required. Some roles require a triannual check.
