About The Role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Business Digital Strategy. Reporting directly into the Director of Strategy & Transformation, you will define and drive a business‑led digital strategy that underpins NGED’s vision to be a leading DNO. This pivotal leadership role requires you to act as the guiding mind of our digital enabled business strategy, setting ambition, aligning stakeholders and ensuring the right technology decisions for long‑term success. You will bridge business and digital technology, translating strategy into action through clear roadmaps, innovation and measurable value delivery. The role is flexible on location across our National Grid licence areas, with travel to sites and depots required.

What You Will Do

  • Define and lead the digital strategy aligned to business priorities, future roadmaps and transformation goals.
  • Drive adoption of technology‑led change, ensuring the organisation realises value from digital investment.
  • Identify innovation opportunities, including emerging technologies such as agentic AI that unlock efficiency, resilience and customer value.
  • Inform strategic technology decisions that support regulatory commitments, operational performance and future growth.
  • Partner with senior leaders across business and IT&D to align on vision, priorities and execution roadmaps.
  • Evaluate current systems and capabilities from a business perspective to ensure they meet evolving needs.
  • Champion agile and collaborative ways of working, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

About You

  • Proven experience in a digital or IT strategy leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies—including AI, data platforms, and agentic AI, and how they can transform business performance.
  • The ability to identify opportunities for autonomous, decision‑capable technologies (agentic AI) to enhance operations, optimise networks and improve customer outcomes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at executive level.
  • A talent for translating complex technical concepts into clear, strategic business direction.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional transformation and embedding digital change.
  • Act as an Agile leader, living the principles of agile delivery, whilst being a role model for our business and cultural values.
  • Demonstrates resilience and adaptability in fast‑paced environments, with strong self‑awareness and a proactive commitment to continuous professional development.

What We Can Offer You

  • A competitive salary of £85,000 – £100,000 depending on experience.
  • Annual performance incentive of up to 40% of eligible earnings.
  • 28 days annual leave, plus eight statutory days and option to buy or sell holiday days each year.
