National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of the UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK. We are currently recruiting for a Systems and Cyber Asset Manager for our NSL (North Sea Link) Interconnectors site located in Bedlington.
You’ll work in a team responsible for the security, resilience and compliance of critical systems and networks in National Grid Interconnectors. As a Systems and Cyber Asset Manager, you will manage a team responsible for managing and securing key operational systems critical to the interconnectors operation. You will be required to be based on site at Bedlington for this role so you must be able to drive and have a full UK driving licence.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and manage a team of system and cyber asset management and OT engineering professionals.
- Interpret and consult on central policy from the Cyber, Engineering, Assurance and Policy team and implement to your assigned interconnector and control rooms.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, promoting best practices in systems and cyber asset management.
- Manage the team and suppliers to ensure that safe systems of work are compiled as a paramount priority.
- Create reports to support Head of Operations and Maintenance for internal and external forums.
- Ensure that the systems, networks, cyber assets and hardware services are managed appropriately and in-line with regulatory/legislative requirements, business policy, standards and frameworks.
- Ensure systems remain operable and do not create any operational impacts.
- Manage suppliers and spares and initiate projects and tenders as required to meet resilience, regulatory and business needs.
- Coordinate outage and more frequent activities successfully.
- Manage associated incidents or disaster recovery scenarios and ensure teams are suitably tested and prepared.
- Foster and adhere to a culture of good cyber security.
- Manage suppliers to ensure they perform to quality and compliance standards and oversee the budget associated with their management.
- Manage assurance and audit activities when undertaken.
- Ensure compliance to key regulatory requirements, including compliance reporting in collaboration with other SMEs.
- Support the delivery of works and services across the Interconnectors Portfolio of IFA, IFA2, NSL and Viking Link sites.
- Participate in a site call out rota on a periodic basis and support live incidents if they occur.
What you’ll need:
- Experience or a background in operational technology with an understanding of the energy industry and familiarity with SCADA and Control and Protection Systems.
- Knowledge of high voltage electrical systems and networks is a benefit but not required.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident to oversee and carry out maintenance work on physical hardware.
- Networking qualifications such as CompTIA, Cisco or other ISO/IEC standards are desirable.
- Proficient in asset management software and tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, creating tangible content and analysis.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering business requirements to time and budget constraints.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Awareness or qualifications of other ISO/IEC standards (notably ISA/IEC 62443) are desirable.
- Understanding of relevant regulatory requirements (such as the Networks and Information Systems Regulation [NIS]) is beneficial but not essential.
What you’ll get:
A competitive salary between £58,000 - £73,000 per annum – dependent on capability. You will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
