An opportunity is available for an Operator (Stores) to join the team based at Barnstaple. To apply you will need to hold English & Maths GCSE (1-9/G‑A*) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, maintain and repair ancillary items such as spiking guns, ladders, portable gas equipment, test equipment and test bushings.
- Complete bench testing of CT metering equipment and PAT testing of electrical appliances around the depot.
- Assist other operatives in maintaining the stock inventory within the local stores, take in deliveries and issue items to customers.
- Manage depot facilities and coordinate maintenance and repair works with our supplier to ensure the smooth operation of the depot.
- Assist field‑based teams out on site when required.
Demands a physical environment and the ability to react quickly, decisively, and responsibly.
Qualifications:
- Grade A*-G/1-9 GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent qualification.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to be mobile throughout the area.
- Completed accredited Fork Lift truck training and hold a certificate of completion.
- Electrical experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work on your own initiative in a safety‑critical environment.
- Live within approximately 45 minutes of the depot.
