An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Receivables – Finance Assistant to join our Accounts Receivable team, where you will play a key role in delivering a professional and efficient service to both internal and external customers of National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED).
This role is be based out of our Plymouth office, and we’d hope to see you in the office full-time to complete your training. Thereafter, we are happy to accommodate hybrid working with circa 2 days in the office per week. We’re also happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You’ll Do
- Generate invoices, credit notes, and refunds for a variety of services including new supply connections, alterations, upgrades, telecoms contracts, and property interface billing.
- Maintain and manage customer master data accounts.
- Investigate and resolve customer queries, ensuring timely and effective communication.
- Upload files and manage data interfaces between NGED systems, including error resolution.
- Understand and manage debtor ledger entries, including month-end reconciliations.
- Reconcile and match daily ‘cash sale’ transactions and maintain control over ledger entries.
- Apply and manage VAT queries in line with current regulations.
What You’ll Have
- AAT qualified or working towards (desirable) and previous experience in a high-volume finance or accounts receivable environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to manage customer relationships professionally.
- Confident, self-motivated, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with finance systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of accounts receivable processes and awareness of relevant HMRC or statutory regulations is desirable.
- A collaborative mindset is essential, as teamwork plays a key role in meeting shared goals and maintaining service excellence

What You\’ll Get
Up to £34,793 depending on experience.
As well as your base salary you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
