Great Britain's electricity infrastructure is undergoing an ambitious, exciting and vital transformation. Together with industry, we are creating a cleaner, greener system, one that protects the planet and serves generations to come. As an EPC Project Manager at National Grid, you’ll play a critical role in delivering major high-voltage infrastructure projects that support the UK’s transition to a cleaner, greener energy system. Our work spans large-scale cable replacement programmes, substation upgrades, and overhead line refurbishments across England and Wales—projects that are vital to achieving our net zero ambitions.

You’ll be responsible for project managing projects from early development through construction and close-out, ensuring robust governance, regulatory compliance, and excellent delivery outcomes. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including OFGEM, you’ll help secure regulatory approvals while balancing safety, cost, quality, and environmental responsibilities. We currently have opportunities within our Central region, covering Warwickshire through to Essex and Suffolk. This is a hybrid role requiring an average of three days per week on site, travelling, or in the office, with the remainder worked from home. You’ll join a collaborative and experienced team where your expertise is valued, and you’ll have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on nationally significant infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the investment process across pre-construction, delivery, and project close-out, ensuring strong governance throughout.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, CDM Regulations, Environmental legislation, and National Grid standards.
  • Act as the Client’s Delegated Representative and undertake the Principal Designer role where required under CDM.
  • Produce regular project updates, including programme reporting, financial forecasting, risk, and issue management.
  • Fulfil the role of NEC Project Manager, or equivalent, across a range of contract types.
What You'll Need

We’re looking for driven project delivery professionals who thrive in complex environments and are motivated by making a real impact. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • A strong track record of successfully delivering construction projects from inception through to completion.
  • Proven experience managing high‑value schemes, with high‑voltage power or major infrastructure projects being essential.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation, and communication skills, with the confidence to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A thorough understanding of construction industry Health & Safety requirements and best practice.
  • Demonstrable experience in contract management, ideally across NEC or similar forms of contract.
  • Knowledge of the electricity industry or regulated utilities environment (desirable).

If you’re ready to take ownership of complex, high‑value projects and deliver them safely, on time, and within budget, we’d love to hear from you.

What's in it for you?
  • Salary of £54,000 - £65,000 dependent on experience and capability, plus Market supplement of £4,500 per annum.
  • Annual Performance Based Bonus.
  • Company Car.
  • 37 hour working week with hybrid working model between Home, Site and Office.
  • 26 days annual leave, plus eight statutory days.
  • The option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
  • Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave – so long as it’s relevant to your role.
  • Access to several flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.

This role closes at midnight on 11th May 2026; however, we encourage candidates to submit their application as early as possible and not wait until the published closing date as this can vary. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates – we make appointments purely on merit, assessed against objective selection criteria. We support flexible working and will make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process should you have any physical or mental impairment which may affect your ability to participate in the process.
