National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) owns and operates the high voltage electricity transmission system in England and Wales. Our role is key in enabling the net zero transition by providing the electricity infrastructure needed to meet the UK’s ambitious targets. This requires us to ensure we optimise across the requirements of a broad range of customers and stakeholders while also considering the socio-economic and environmental implications of everything we do.

As Year Ahead Planner, you’ll be part of our Network Operations and Intelligence (NOI) function. Accountable for developing the year ahead outage plans for a particular region of the country, to ensure we meet delivery targets, you’ll have overall ownership of the plan contents and expected outcomes of delivery functions. You’ll monitor progress against outcome targets within your area, proactively resolving any escalations if there is potential for a target to be missed. Understanding work attributes and comparing optimal dates, you’ll recalculate and evaluate Cost/Risk/Performance contribution scores against Portfolio outcomes to determine which work has the higher priority, placing highest priority work in the plan.

You’ll input outages into proprietary business system, ensuring plans are visible and data is of high quality, effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams within the business to ensure successful delivery outcomes.

We’re flexible on where you’re based, but we would like to see you at our offices in Warwick, ideally once a week, and this can be combined with hybrid working from home. There will also be the need for site visits occasionally throughout the year.

  • Good project management, stakeholder management, decision-making and prioritisation skills.
