Team Safety, Health, Environment and Resilience Business Unit – Electricity Transmission. Location: Warwick, GB (CV34 6DA). At National Grid, safety is central to our operations. We are looking for a Safety Rules Manager – HV Systems to lead the High Voltage Safety Rules framework across one of the UK’s most critical infrastructure environments.

As Safety Rules Manager, you will lead the governance, development and continuous improvement of National Grid’s HV Safety Rules framework, ensuring the highest standards of protection for colleagues and contractors. Acting as the organisation’s technical authority for HV safety, you will shape policy, guide operational standards and ensure safe systems of work remain aligned with regulatory and industry requirements. You will also lead a small specialist team and drive consistency, compliance and continuous improvement. You will represent National Grid with regulators and industry forums, partnering with operational teams to embed policy, strengthen standards, and build confidence across the organization.

What we’re looking for:

  • You will be a credible and collaborative leader with confidence to challenge constructively, sound judgement for decision making, and the ability to bring others along.

Requirements:

  • HNC in Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • NEBOSH certification or equivalent health & safety qualification.
  • Registration with a recognised Engineering or Safety professional body.
  • Extensive knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Management Regulations.
  • Electrical hazard management and safe systems of work.
  • Electricity industry codes and procedures governing joint sites.
  • A strong understanding of corporate and operational safety governance frameworks.
  • A track record of leading a specialist team and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both operational and executive audiences.

Pay and Benefits:

  • £65,000 to £80,000 per annum + up to 30% bonus opportunity.
  • 28 days annual leave, pension contributions up to 18% of salary.
