This is a great opportunity for a Manager - Indirect Tax to step into a visible, hands-on indirect tax role within a FTSE 30 organisation.

Working closely with the Indirect Tax Senior Manager, you’ll support the delivery of the indirect tax strategy while providing practical advice and ensuring the business stays compliant in a fast-moving regulatory landscape. VAT will be your main focus, but the role offers real variety. You’ll also get exposure to the wider indirect tax agenda, including environmental taxes, customs duties, CBAM and Climate Change Levy — giving you the chance to broaden your experience and stay ahead of emerging change.

You’ll play an important role in strengthening controls, improving processes and helping to modernise reporting, data and digital tax systems. Working collaboratively with Finance, Shared Services and operational teams, you’ll help make sure the business is not only compliant, but well prepared for what’s coming next.

This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide high quality indirect tax advice and analysis to support commercial decision making across the business.
  • Support VAT treatment for new services, cross border activity, property income, and business operations, helping to optimise VAT recovery.
  • Maintain the property register and work closely with property teams to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Assess the indirect tax impact of new legislation and regulatory change, clearly communicating risks and opportunities.
  • Support the delivery and review of UK VAT returns, including National Grid Ventures entities.
  • Manage the Group’s partial exemption position, considering both existing and new sources of exempt income.
  • Assist with compliance obligations across other indirect taxes, including CBAM, CCL and red diesel.
  • Help develop and maintain internal policies, guidance and training to strengthen tax governance.
  • Coordinate responses to HMRC and other tax authority queries, audits and information requests.
  • Build strong relationships with Finance, Legal, Shared Services, operational teams and external advisers, supporting wider tax projects and risk initiatives.

What You’ll Have:

  • CTA qualification is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong VAT technical knowledge with the experience to operate confidently at a managerial level.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to build trusted relationships across the business.

What You’ll Get:

  • Up to £75,000 – dependent on experience.
  • As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 15% (with a maximum of 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
