At National Grid, our commitment to a cleaner, greener energy future is powered by the dedication and ingenuity of our people. Join our team as a Finance Business Partner Analyst and be a part of something bigger—where your unique skills and passions can make a real difference. Together, we are superpowered.

As National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) continues its exciting transformation journey, we are strengthening our focus on performance, insight, and value across the business. This is your opportunity to play a key part in that journey.

We are looking for a proactive and commercially curious Finance Business Partner Analyst to join our Field Operations Finance Business Partnering team. In this role, you will be at the heart of operational decision making—using data, analysis, and clear insight to influence and drive performance across our Field Operations management teams.

You will help shape and embed key operational performance indicators, ensuring we deliver the outcomes that matter—both financially and from a regulatory perspective. As a trusted partner to our Field Operational functions, you will support the teams responsible for delivering our capital investment programme, as well as the repair and maintenance activity that keeps our electricity distribution network running safely and reliably.

If you are passionate about bringing numbers to life, working closely with operational leaders, and making a real impact on both business performance and customer outcomes, this is a fantastic time to join us.

This role is based out of our Plymouth office, and we hope to see you at least two days per week but you are welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. The role will require travel to locations across the South West to provide local support to stakeholders.

What You Will Do:
  • Build strong partnerships with Field Operations leaders and Finance Business Partners to drive performance and influence decisions.
  • Deliver accurate and insightful analysis to support data driven decision making.
  • Shape future finance reporting by collaborating with the Performance team on next generation reporting tools and processes.
  • Work with Investment Accountants to strengthen performance and insight across the capital programme.
  • Promote a financial performance culture by identifying process improvements and supporting capability-building across Field Operations.
  • Develop robust business cases, assess risks, and support key projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure investment decisions are financially sound, clearly articulating performance and regulatory impacts.
  • Build an understanding of RIIO and translate operational opportunities into clear financial insights and recommendations.
What You Will Have:
  • Qualified or near Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with strong knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Proven track record of Finance Business Partnering, ideally within a similar industry.
  • Strong systems capability, with confidence using ERP tools (E5 a bonus) and advanced Excel/PowerPoint skills.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and turning data into meaningful insight.
  • A commercial, customer focused mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse teams.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and a natural problem solver who is curious, collaborative, and solutions driven.
  • Ability to simplify complex issues, prioritise effectively, and thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • Confidence presenting clear, impactful insight to non-financial stakeholders.
  • A commitment to performance, continuous improvement, and delivering high quality outcomes.

You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
