National Grid is hiring a n Innovation Centre Manager for our Customer and Network Development Team based at our Deeside Centre for Innovation in North Wales, commutable from Flintshire and Cheshire.
About the role
The Deeside Centre for Innovation is the only centre of its type in the UK, allowing us to test new technologies , ideas and processes in a safe off - grid substation & overhead line environment , ensuring National Grid pave s the way towards a green energy future.
The Innovation Centre manager will help finalise operationalising the centre and oversee all aspects of the continued operation of the centre including its commercial, testing, safety and site management activities.
This role will work with the rest of our innovation functions across National Grid to coordinate innovation activities and leverage the Innovation Centre to accelerate the adoption of new technologies and ways of working. You will engage across the business and our wider industry to promote awareness of the Innovation Centre and the services it can provide.
What you\'ll do
- Management of the Innovation Centre’s budget and ownership of revenue generation
- Commercial strategy and customer relationships
- Strategy for site and capability development
- Support safe operation of testing activities on site through policy and people management
- Promotion of the Innovation Centre within National Grid and across the industry
- Coordination with National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) and NG Group innovation functions to exploit the value of the Innovation Centre
What you\'ll need
- You will have experience and knowledge of business innovation, research and development and/or academic research.
- Experience of financial reporting and management is desirable as the role will involve management of the costs and revenue of the centre
- You will have experience of safe working in testing or operational environments and understand National Grid and the electricity industry’s safety processes.
- Familiarity with energy network innovation regulation would also be preferable.
- You should have leadership skills with a record of demonstrating consultative, facilitation and decision-making skills, and the ability to build positive relationships within National Grid and with key external stakeholders and customers.
