We are looking for a passionate Technical Accounting Manager to join our Technical Accounting and External Reporting team. As a Technical Accounting Manager in our team, you will leverage your strong IFRS knowledge and experience of complex accounting transactions to provide valuable accounting guidance to stakeholders across the Group. You will play a key role in producing National Grid plc’s half-year results statement and full-year Annual Report and Accounts (ARA) and 20F.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and reviewing disclosures, supporting SOX documentation and control evidence.
- Assisting with month-end reporting and the preparation of statutory accounts for head office companies.
- Drafting technical accounting papers and working through the resolution of papers with our Auditors.
- Providing technical accounting advice for large and complex internal and external transactions.
- Considering new IFRS guidance as it is issued and helping on projects to implement new accounting standards (IFRS 18 and IFRS 20).
- Developing relationships with key stakeholders across the business units and assisting in organising our annual Financial Reporting Summit.
- Producing disclosures and operating key SOX controls for the half year results statement and year-end annual report and accounts.
- Participating as part of a small team who run the month-end Group consolidation.
- Providing support on the preparation of the head office subsidiary accounts.
What You'll Have:
- A Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with around 2 years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience in a technical role within financial reporting or a proven track record of technical expertise gained in an audit firm.
- Experience within a listed business.
- Strong IFRS knowledge.
- Self-starter with excellent research skills and a solid understanding of core financial processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and collaboration skills.
- A proactive and adaptable approach with a strong drive for results.
