Job Purpose: Help shape a safe, resilient, and sustainable energy future. At National Grid, we’re investing in the future of the electricity transmission system as part of the Great Grid Upgrade. As a Project Manager, you’ll play a vital role in delivering critical infrastructure projects that keep our network safe and reliable today, while preparing it for tomorrow’s growing demand for clean electricity. Based in London with hybrid working (home, office, and site), you’ll lead a diverse portfolio of projects across the region, ensuring delivery to the highest standards of safety, quality, time, and cost.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of asset replacement and new build projects, typically valued between £100k and £10m.
  • Deliver a wide range of schemes including HV transformer and shunt reactor installations, cable replacements, protection and control upgrades, and cyber security improvements.
  • Oversee National Grid delivery teams and external contractors, ensuring safe and efficient execution in line with company policies and industry standards.
  • Take ownership of CDM responsibilities, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage project financials, forecasting, and reporting throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work across the London region, with occasional travel and overnight stays as required.

About you: You’re a hands-on, proactive Project Manager who enjoys working in a technical environment and thrives on delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders. You’ll bring:

  • Minimum HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a higher qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and contractor management skills.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and CDM Regulations.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • A full UK driving licence.

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience within the energy sector, HV substations, or construction environment.
  • A recognised Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
  • A Certificate in Management Studies or similar.

What you’ll get: A Salary of £58,590 to £62,500 pa including allowance + Contribution Pension total up to 18%. London Allowance and Market supplements are applicable to this role. Company Car, Bonus, Paid overtime. 37 Hours per week Monday to Friday + 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days. Your salary is reviewed each year against the market for your role, skills, knowledge and experience.
