This role is based within our Customer Connections Team. This is the department that connects customers — such as data centres, battery storage projects, offshore wind farms, transport networks and solar farms — to the electricity transmission network. The connections process is key to delivering the capacity needed for an efficient and renewable transmission network and we need to deliver an increasing number of highly complex and exciting new projects. In this role you would play a crucial role in enabling us to do this.

As a Higher Apprentice in Customer Connections, you will:

  • Work in the Project Management Office (PMO) alongside colleagues in planning, estimating, risk, and reporting.
  • Gain experience in various aspects of estimating, risk, and cost management, including participating in scheme teams and supporting project managers.
  • Contribute to maintaining the Cost Book, analyzing tender submissions, and identifying project risks.
  • Have the opportunity to be involved in project planning and program management of live projects, understanding their interactions and operational constraints.

This role has multiple vacancies available based at our Warwick office. These vacancies offer flexible, hybrid working.

About you: You will need to have a GCSE in English Language AND in Math at Grade C or above (or equivalent). 2 A levels / A2: Grades A* - C or equivalent (BTEC National Certificate OR Diploma Level 3 at Grade Merit or Distinction). Must have or be working towards a full UK drivers license. You don’t need prior work experience; the determination and will to succeed is far more important as we will teach you everything you need to know. The role will provide you with a variety of skills including transferrable skills to support your career development within National Grid.
