We’re looking for a Lead Project Manager to play a key role within our Interconnector Construction Directorate, delivering critical CapEx projects aligned to the lifetime strategy of the IFA interconnector.
This is a high‑impact role where you’ll take ownership of complex refurbishment and replacement projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality, while maintaining the reliability and availability of a vital asset in the UK’s energy infrastructure.
The role is based onsite at Sellindge in Kent and comes with a job requirement car; we would only consider candidates within an hour’s commute from site. There may be occasional travel to different sites.
What you’ll do
- Lead refurbishment and replacement projects at the IFA interconnectors
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resources and deliverables
- Provide regular, high‑quality project reporting including financial forecasting, SHESQ performance, milestones and risk
- Lead and support investment processes across pre‑construction, delivery and close‑out phases
- Drive a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
- Set the tone for safety leadership, fostering an open environment where concerns can be raised
- Lead commissioning strategy for IFA construction activities
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and proactively resolve challenges to ensure successful delivery
What you’ll need
- Proven experience managing projects or portfolios of work within complex environments
- Advanced project management capability with a track record of successful delivery
- Strong knowledge of CDM, safety and environmental regulations
- Understanding of electricity transmission or infrastructure projects
- Experience managing project finances and cost control across large‑scale programmes
- Experience in contracting and procurement across the full project lifecycle
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make informed, data‑driven decisions
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate and remove blockers
- Experience building and developing high‑performing teams
