National Grid is hiring an AI Value & Strategy Specialist on a permanent basis. The location for this role will be based from our London or Warwick office - Hybrid Working Policy.
Job Purpose
As the AI Value Office Lead AI Strategy & Value Specialist you will be responsible for growing the roadmap of AI opportunities within National Grid’s AI Center of Excellence. The Value Office serves National Grid’s businesses by ensuring both that they make the most impactful investments in analytics and AI, and that realise the value of those investments. Your role will involve scoping opportunities, establishing and prioritising business cases, managing a roadmap of current and future demand, measuring the value of AI projects post-deployment, stakeholder management, and supporting AI strategy development and implementation.
What you’ll do
- Scoping AI opportunities through collaboration with members of National Grid’s core business and IT teams, establishing the opportunities with the greatest impact and agreeing what an analytics/AI-powered process could look like for each opportunity.
- Documenting the business case of the proposed analytics/AI-based solution, including the expected financial and non-financial benefits.
- Collaborating with solution delivery teams, to shape the technical requirements of an Analytics/AI-based solution(s) and operate as the key interface point with business teams.
- Tracking and measuring AI program performance, using KPIs to monitor the financial and non-financial impact of analytics and AI solutions as well as business engagement with the Value Office.
- Collaborate with data and AI Governance teams, to support the assessment of any risks associated with the use of Analytics/AI-based solutions.
- Create and deliver engaging presentations to leadership and stakeholders across business teams to communicate the vision, progress, and impact of the AI Value Office.
- Provide executive-level reporting on AI Value Office progress, impact, and future initiatives.
- Support the development and implementation of AI and data strategy across the organization, including staying up to date with the latest developments in both AI and the utility industry.
About you
- A Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Business Management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience of working in an asset-heavy industry, including Utilities, Energy, Mining, Engineering or Manufacturing would be desirable.
- Strong understanding of Analytics and AI (including Generative AI), and an interest in the growing impact that these types of solutions can play in achieving business objectives.
- Exceptional business analysis skills, with experience in capturing and shaping requirements, and forming a business case with clear benefits.
- Strong presentation skills with experience delivering engaging and impactful presentations to different audiences.
- Proven communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with senior executives.
- Ability to work independently, influence without direct authority, and navigate a matrixed organization.
- Experience in a consulting role is an added plus, particularly in advisory or strategic transformation initiatives related to data, analytics or AI.
