We are seeking a passionate and experienced Electricity Distribution Overhead Lineperson to join our training team at the Tipton Training Centre. You will report to a Technical Training Delivery Manager and lead engaging overhead line training courses, collaborate on the design and development of innovative training programmes, and enhance our training assets and facilities by working closely with subject‑matter experts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver quality training in classroom and workshop environments.
  • Use experience to help design and develop technical and safety training to meet customer requirements.
  • Support the maintenance of training products, ensuring compliance with internal quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure training products meet relevant safety and technical requirements.
  • Interact with technical experts and relevant departments to develop training that meets necessary standards.
  • Review latest technical and safety bulletins to remain knowledgeable on safety training matters.
  • Review lesson plans and presentations to ensure sessions are delivered to a high standard.
  • Carry out observations to identify and implement improvements.
  • Maintain training centre facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure training equipment is maintained, calibrated, and tested as necessary.
  • Conduct safety walks for areas of responsibility.
  • Assess individuals carrying out practical activities to ensure they meet qualification standards.
  • Work with the Design and Innovation Team to drive improvements and new products.
  • Take Health & Safety and Safeguarding responsibilities to learners.
  • Complete accurate course reports and assessment documentation.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Recognised Level 3 Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship, Appropriate Technical Qualification – ONC/HNC or equivalent Electrical Engineering Qualification.
  • Extensive relevant experience maintaining distribution plant and equipment.
  • Sound understanding of the Distribution Safety Rules and associated Policies.
  • Excellent communication, time‑management, and planning skills.
  • Good IT skills and proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing teams or work activities is desirable.

Desirable qualifications and experience:

  • Previous training experience or coaching others.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding or experience working with young adults.
  • NEBOSH certificate/diploma or equivalent safety qualifications.

Applicants will be required to study for and successfully complete a suitable professional training qualification. A valid driving licence is required. We will conduct a DBS Enhanced check for candidates who will work with learners aged 16–18. Shortlisted candidates will be required to create and present a training presentation on a given topic during the interview.
