An opportunity is available for a Team Leader working in the National Grid Telecoms Network Management Centre (NMC) located in Taunton. The successful candidate will report into the Telecoms Operations Team Manager responsible for the NMC and will be responsible for leading a group of NMC Engineers and Team Supports.
The key focus of this role is to lead an efficient and productive team within the NMC. Key considerations for the successful running of your team include:
- Ensuring your team's adherence to Health and Safety regulations
- Efficient scheduling of work activities
- Collaboration with other teams to manage workload
- Driving team productivity and individual performance management
- Maintaining a full schedule of work for the team
- Ensuring our people have the appropriate training and work authorisations to support a safe and productive working environment
- Responding quickly and professionally to customer complaints
- Managing a 24/7 shift rota
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for an excellent communicator, who has the ability to build strong relationships with other teams within National Grid Telecoms and NGED, as well as our customers. A problem solver who is organised and can plan ahead. You must have a proven track record of managing teams including managing and driving performance, as well as experience of being the point of escalation for both internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll need a good understanding or the ability to quickly develop knowledge of:
- Electricity Safety
- Health & Safety Legislation
- Quality & Continuity Regulations 2002
- Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
- The NGED distribution business
- The National Grid Telecoms business
- National Grid Telecoms roles and activities undertaken
- Some Commercial and Financial awareness would be an advantage
You must hold a full, valid UK/EU driving licence as you may be required to carry out site visits. The post requires National Security Vetting clearance with eligibility requirements, more information can be found on the gov.uk website. To meet National Security Vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been a resident in the UK for at least 5 years prior to the date of application. There are exceptions to this however and may include:
- You have been serving overseas with HM forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of HM Government
