An opportunity is available for an Operator (Stores) to join the team based at Barnstaple. To apply, you will need to hold English & Maths GCSE (1-9/G‑A*) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects, such as Functional Skills. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain and repair ancillary items such as spiking guns, ladders, portable gas equipment, test equipment and test bushings.
  • Complete bench testing of CT metering equipment and PAT testing of electrical appliances around the depot.
  • Assist other operatives in maintaining the stock inventory within the local stores, take in deliveries and issue items to customers.
  • Help manage depot facilities and coordinate maintenance and repair works with our supplier to ensure the smooth operation of the depot.

The role is based at Barnstaple depot as part of a team, however at times you may need to assist field‑based teams out on site. The environment requires you to be able to react quickly, decisively and responsibly. This role is suitable for someone who enjoys the demands of a physical environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative, in a safety critical environment.
  • External candidates are required to have grade A*-G/1‑9 GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in these subjects.
  • A valid driving licence is required as you’ll need to be mobile throughout the area.
  • Completion of accredited Fork Lift truck training and holding a certificate of completion is ideal.
  • Some electrical experience would be an advantage.
  • Live within approximately 45 minutes of the depot you are applying for.

Training will be given where necessary to support the successful candidate in gaining the skills and experience to carry out the role in full.
