The Debt Capital Markets & Treasury Dealer sits in our specialist Treasury team within Finance and is responsible for supporting the National Gas Group’s funding, liquidity management, and financial risk management activities. The role combines debt capital markets execution, rating agency engagement, treasury dealing (investment and hedging), and regulatory reporting, ensuring alignment with financial policy, regulatory requirements, and credit rating objectives.

About the role

  • Debt Capital Markets (DCM): Support the execution of external financing transactions including bonds, private placements, loans, and other capital markets instruments. Manage day-to-day interactions with banks in relation to funding activities. Coordinate internal approvals, documentation, and execution processes for funding transactions.
  • Rating Agency Engagement: Support ongoing engagement with credit rating agencies (e.g. Moody’s and Fitch). Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and supporting analysis for rating agency meetings. Monitor and maintain key liquidity and credit metrics models.
  • Treasury Dealing (Investing & Hedging): Execute treasury transactions including both cash investments and short-term liquidity management, as well as FX, interest rate, and inflation hedging. Monitor compliance with treasury policies, counterparty limits, and risk appetite. Maintain accurate records of transactions and ensure timely settlement and confirmation. Support optimisation of liquidity usage, including management of RCF and other facilities. Own the front-end ownership of NGT’s Treasury Management System, ensuring accurate valuation and risk management reporting.
  • Ofgem Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and support treasury-related regulatory reporting to NGT’s regulator, Ofgem, including submissions related to regulatory financial performance reporting. Ensure accuracy and consistency of data used in regulatory submissions and internal reporting. Support analysis of regulatory mechanisms (e.g. cost of debt allowances, debt and financial covenants).
  • Governance and Controls: Ensure compliance with treasury policies, financial controls, and regulatory requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement of treasury processes, systems, and reporting.

About you

You’re a Treasury specialist with experience in corporate treasury, debt capital markets, or banking including: Debt instruments and capital markets execution; Financial markets (interest rates, FX, inflation); Hedging strategies and derivative products. Strong analytical and financial modelling skills in MS Excel are required, as is high attention to detail, a strong control mindset, and excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. A background in regulated sectors such as Energy or Utilities would be most highly regarded to understand regulatory requirements and revenue collection.
