About The Role

We're looking for a Reward Specialist to join our People team and play a key role in delivering compensation, benefits and reward activities across National Gas.

You'll provide specialist expertise, data-driven insight and governance across reward programmes, helping ensure our reward offering remains competitive, equitable and aligned to business needs.

Reward is a critical part of attracting, retaining and motivating talented people.

In this role, you'll deliver and help shape key reward activities including salary benchmarking, job evaluation, annual pay reviews, bonus processes and benefits programmes that support colleagues across the business.

Working closely with the People team, managers and external providers, you'll combine analytical expertise with practical reward knowledge and project management to ensure robust governance, informed decision-making and a positive employee experience.

Your insight will help influence reward strategy while supporting fair and competitive outcomes for our workforce.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading job evaluation and annual market benchmarking activities, providing recommendations on role sizing and pay positioning.
  • Delivering the annual pay review and bonus cycles for staff and early careers populations.
  • Providing expert advice on salary proposals and compensation structures using market data, internal relativities and reward principles.
  • Managing reward-related submissions, benchmarking analysis and reporting activities.
  • Owning and enhancing total reward statements and employee recognition programmes.
  • Supporting benefits delivery, invoice and account reconciliations and annual enrolment activities, owning some provider relationships.
  • Producing analysis and insights to inform pay and bonus gap reporting and reward decision-making.
  • Monitoring external market trends and emerging reward practices to help inform future reward design and improvements.

Essential

  • Experience in job evaluation and salary benchmarking.
  • Previous experience in a Reward Specialist or Senior Reward Analyst role.
  • Experience delivering projects or annual reward cycles to demanding timescales.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel capability, including pivot tables, advanced formulas and analysis of large datasets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, networking and collaboration skills.
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Experience with Hay Job Evaluation and/or Willis Towers Watson benchmarking methodologies.
  • Experience managing reward and benefits cycles.
  • Knowledge of HR systems, ideally SAP Success Factors.
  • CIPD qualification, reward qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.
