About the role
We're looking for a Senior Capacity Strategy & Development Analyst to join our NTS Capacity & Access Development team. You'll use commercial, analytical and regulatory expertise to help shape capacity strategy across the National Transmission System (NTS), supporting efficient network operations while delivering positive outcomes for customers and stakeholders. This role sits at the heart of how National Gas manages capacity on the transmission system today while preparing for the challenges of tomorrow. You'll analyse emerging risks, identify opportunities to optimise network performance, and influence strategic decisions that support energy security, regulatory compliance and customer needs. Working across operational, commercial and regulatory teams, you'll help shape future capacity arrangements, support industry change initiatives and provide specialist expertise on complex market and system challenges. This is an opportunity to influence decisions with national impact while developing innovative solutions in a highly visible strategic role.
What you'll be doing
- Support the development and continuous improvement of capacity and constraint management strategies across the National Transmission System.
- Analyse operational, commercial and market data to identify risks, opportunities and emerging trends, providing recommendations to support business decisions.
- Lead reviews of capacity release methodologies, commercial processes and arrangements to ensure regulatory compliance and customer value.
- Assess the impacts of industry modification proposals, regulatory changes and licence developments on operational processes and systems.
- Collaborate with operational, commercial and market teams to identify and respond to emerging system constraints and capacity risks.
- Support the design and implementation of innovative capacity release and constraint management solutions.
- Influence stakeholders across National Gas, Ofgem and the wider industry to support strategic outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll bring
Essential
- Experience assessing complex business, operational or commercial risks and developing recommendations to mitigate them.
- Experience using data and insight to identify trends, evaluate options and support strategic decision-making.
- Experience developing and implementing process improvements, new approaches or business change initiatives.
- Experience presenting complex information and recommendations to senior stakeholders, influencing decisions and securing buy-in.
- Experience working across multiple teams and stakeholders to deliver outcomes in a complex operational or commercial environment.
- Experience balancing short-term priorities with longer-term strategic objectives and business performance goals.
- Ability to understand complex regulatory, commercial or operational frameworks and apply them to business decisions.
- Degree qualified in a numerate discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable
- Knowledge of gas industry regulations, licence obligations or industry codes such as the Uniform Network Code (UNC).
- Experience working with Gemini or similar commercial and operational systems.
- Understanding of energy markets, network operations or regulated utility environments.
