Project Manager (National)

£55,500 to £65,500 + up to 6% bonus + company car

National (Hub: Ambergate)

Working pattern: Hybrid (on-site minimum 3 days a week)

Travel: Regular (national inc. to central hub in Ambergate)

Some flexibility for home working may be available, where appropriate.

About The Role

Join National Gas Services (NGS), a trusted provider of specialist services across the UK and Ireland, delivering world‑class solutions for gas transmission and distribution operators. With over 45 years of expertise and a nationwide network, NGS plays a critical role in keeping energy moving.

In this role, you’ll own and drive the delivery of key Customer Connections projects across the Gas Transmission network. From concept to commissioning, you’ll be accountable for delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes – on time and on budget – while supporting a fast-moving, customer-focused business.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of multiple projects from concept through to close out
  • Deliver against time, cost, quality, and safety targets - no compromise
  • Build and manage strong relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • Ensure full compliance with ND500, governance frameworks, and company standards
  • Act as Client under CDM 2015, ensuring all H&S obligations are met
  • Drive process safety, including FPSAs and compliance throughout delivery
  • Own the G35 process from initiation through to commissioning authorisation
  • Lead project governance and chair review meetings with clarity and control
  • Influence design to optimise safety, buildability, and long‑term asset value
  • Manage tendering, contracts, and contractor performance (NEC4)
  • Take full control of project finances - forecasting, tracking, and recovery
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and opportunities proactively
  • Coordinate outages to keep delivery on track
  • Lead by example - sharing knowledge and strengthening team capability

Essential

Key requirements & experience

  • Strong technical expertise in high-pressure gas transmission (pipelines, compressor stations, terminals, AGIs)
  • Proven track record delivering complex infrastructure projects end-to-end
  • Solid understanding of CDM 2015 and relevant legislation
  • Strong NEC4 contract management experience
  • Commercially sharp with strong financial management skills (forecasting, cost control, payments)
  • Skilled at planning, prioritising, and managing multiple projects
  • Confident communicator with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience within regulated utilities or energy environments
  • Knowledge of ND500 or similar governance frameworks
  • Experience influencing engineering design and technical assurance
  • Passion for developing others and improving project delivery
