About The Role
We’re looking for a Junior Planner / Document Controller to play a key role in supporting planning, scheduling and information management across maintenance, operations and project activities at the St Fergus Terminal. You’ll help ensure that critical programmes are underpinned by accurate schedules, strong governance and robust document management systems. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their career in planning, project controls or asset operations you’ll be hands‑on in analysing schedules, coordinating stakeholders, monitoring performance, and enhancing systems that keep the Terminal running safely and efficiently. Working closely with the Planner and wider operational teams, you’ll contribute to the entire lifecycle of programme development from initial scoping through to execution, monitoring and reporting.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Contribute to the review and maintenance of fully cost‑loaded and resource‑levelled programmes across projects, outages, maintenance activities, and operational tasks.
- Review contractor schedules for accuracy, alignment and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct schedule quality checks and highlight issues in logic, sequencing or dependencies.
- Produce scenario modelling, what‑if assessments and impact analyses to support resilience planning.
- Monitor schedule performance using critical path, earned value and schedule variance techniques.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Develop dashboards, reports and performance insights for Band D stakeholders.
- Analyse data trends, identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure planning processes and WBS structures are consistently followed across teams.
- Work with engineering, operations, finance and project teams on cost alignment and programme structure.
- Assess early warnings, scope changes and schedule impacts.
- Recommend mitigation strategies and support proactive risk identification.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Liaise with operations, engineering, maintenance, construction partners and contractors.
- Lead schedule walkthroughs and facilitate key meetings.
- Upskill colleagues in planning expectations and processes.
Document Control & Information Management
- Manage document control processes for technical, operational and project documentation.
- Ensure robust version control, traceability and compliance across all documentation.
- Maintain registers, logs and systems aligned with regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Coordinate timely document review, approval and submission with internal and external parties.
- Identify process gaps and propose improvements in planning and document management.
- Support deployment of new tools, templates and standards.
- Capture lessons learned and help enhance planning maturity across the terminal.
About You
You’re organised, analytical and eager to develop your technical and planning expertise. You enjoy solving problems, engaging stakeholders and bringing clarity to complex information. You’re curious, detail‑focused, proactive and able to work across multiple disciplines. You don’t need to be an expert yet but you should have a strong foundation and a desire to grow.
Key Requirements & Experience
Skills & Experience- Experience in developing or supporting project programmes.
- Exposure to project delivery environments.
- Working knowledge of planning tools such as Primavera P6 (or similar).
- Understanding of cost‑loaded planning and earned value concepts.
- Experience with document control processes and systems.
- Confident in leading team meetings and communicating with diverse stakeholders.
- APM PFQ or equivalent experience.
- Training or certification in planning tools (e.g., P6).
- Document control training or experience with ISO‑aligned systems (desirable).
