About The Role
As an Integrated Security Solutions (ISS) Installation Engineer, you'll help protect National Gas sites by delivering reliable, high-quality security systems across the UK. You'll install, commission, and support technologies including CCTV, access control, and intruder detection systems, ensuring they operate safely, effectively, and compliantly.

Working across a variety of locations, you'll help bring security designs to life, solve technical challenges, and ensure critical infrastructure remains protected and resilient.
What you’ll be doing:
- Install, configure, test, and commission CCTV, access control, intruder detection, and other integrated security systems across National Gas sites.
- Turn security designs and technical drawings into practical, high-quality installations that meet operational requirements.
- Deliver infrastructure cabling, device installation, and network-connected security solutions.
- Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and support upgrades to keep systems performing reliably.
- Assess site readiness, power requirements, and installation needs to ensure safe, compliant delivery.
- Work with project teams, site stakeholders, and specialist security engineers to deliver successful outcomes.
- Maintain accurate asset, configuration, and installation records to support ongoing system management.
What you’ll bring:
This role would suit someone who enjoys solving technical problems, working independently in the field, and seeing projects through from installation to successful handover.
Essential:
- Experience installing and maintaining CCTV and automated access control systems.
- Experience working with electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of integrated physical security technologies.
- Knowledge of IP-based security systems and network configuration.
- Experience fault-finding and resolving issues in live operational environments.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans, and installation designs.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail when documenting work.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
- Flexibility to support installations, maintenance windows, or incident response.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of BS EN 62676 CCTV, BS EN 60839 access control standards, and 18th Edition electrical.
- Experience working in critical infrastructure, utilities, or other regulated environments.
- Understanding of security monitoring platforms and system integrations.
- Familiarity with CAPSS requirements and cyber security considerations for physical security systems.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in security systems, electrical engineering, or the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Security clearance:
This role is subject to National Security Vetting (NSV). Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC) throughout their employment.
