About the role

National Gas is helping shape the future of the UK's gas network through emerging opportunities in hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS), biomethane and other low-carbon energy solutions.

The Insight Associate plays a key role in ensuring the business has access to timely market intelligence, customer insights and strategic reporting to support decision-making.

Working closely with Business Development, Commercial teams and senior stakeholders, you'll help identify emerging opportunities, maintain business development pipelines and improve reporting using data, automation and AI tools.

This role offers broad exposure across the organisation and the chance to influence decisions that support the UK's energy transition.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Maintain and report on the Business Development opportunity pipeline, ensuring opportunities are accurately captured and assessed.
  • Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly insight reports for senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Conduct market, customer and competitor research to identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reporting outputs using Excel, Power BI and Power Point.
  • Support the development of automated reporting and workflow improvements using AI and digital tools.
  • Coordinate delivery of the monthly Customer & Stakeholder Hub.
  • Present insights, findings and recommendations to colleagues and stakeholders across the business.

Essential

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience gathering, analysing and presenting information from multiple sources.
  • Strong Excel and Power Point skills with the ability to create professional reports and presentations.
  • Understanding of dashboards, reporting and business performance metrics.
  • Strong research, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • University degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Experience using AI, automation or workflow optimisation tools.
  • Experience creating dashboards or data visualisations, particularly in Power BI.
  • Interest in the energy sector and the transition to low-carbon solutions.
