We want you to apply analytical and project expertise across a diverse portfolio of innovation projects to improve the efficiency, reliability and future capability of the gas transmission system.

Key accountabilities

  • Support the technical delivery of Network Innovation Allowance (NIA), Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) portfolio projects in the given strategic theme.
  • Support project delivery with a high Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and deploying into the business.
  • Support the strategic portfolio of projects and technology roadmaps with stakeholder input.
  • Work with UK and worldwide stakeholders, including networks, to develop cross‑functional innovation projects and ensure the validity of our strategy and portfolio.
  • Disseminate key focus areas and activities to the business.
  • Support in the identification and application of external funding opportunities.
  • Develop project scopes and funding bids with relevant teams.
  • Support cross‑functional forums.
  • Ensure and enable the commerciality of our innovation activities.
  • Develop project overview packs and financial project information for internal review.
  • Support internal corporate audit and external UKRI/Ofgem audit process.
  • Monitor and manage project delivery on multiple projects against time, cost and quality.
  • Track value and benefit realisation processes of the innovation portfolio to support regulatory reporting commitments.

About you

  • Knowledge of NIA and SIF project funding mechanisms and the regulatory governance requirements.
  • Experience utilising Six Sigma and/or Lean innovation mechanisms to develop programmes, business cases and scopes of work.
  • Knowledge of external funding mechanisms (Ofgem, InnovateUK, EU).
  • Knowledge of IP positions relating to innovation projects.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional indirect teams to develop and deliver projects.
  • Experience communicating complex technical solutions across multidisciplinary functions.
  • Knowledge/experience of working on complex multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Broad understanding of National Gas Transmission’s business.
  • Experience developing and managing a complex project portfolio, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Member of an institution such as IGEM, IMechE, IMMM, IET is highly regarded.
