We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses access to the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness. National Gas Services (NGS) provide world‑class customer service across the UK and Ireland, and are a one‑stop shop for pipeline inspection, maintenance, repair and emergency response services, combining over 45 years of experience, in‑house expertise and a nationwide depot network. This role is all about coordination, connection and delivery. As our Apprentice & Planning Coordinator, you’ll work closely with the internal programme manager, training providers, line managers and other internal teams to facilitate high‑quality technical training and support apprentice development across NGS. You’ll help translate training requirements into clear, workable plans – making sure apprentices have the right training, at the right time, to build competence and confidence as they progress towards their first post roles. • Planning and scheduling apprenticeship training in line with competency needs and the annual learning plan
  • Ensuring apprentices receive the right mix of training and on‑the‑job experience to support their development
  • Tracking apprentice progress and adjusting training plans where needed
  • Acting as a day‑to‑day point of contact for apprentices on training, planning and system queries
  • Supporting the set‑up and coordination of end‑point assessments
  • Managing practical arrangements including travel, accommodation and equipment for training delivery
  • Identifying gaps in training needs and feeding insights back to central teams

About You

You’ll be organised, collaborative and comfortable working across multiple teams. You enjoy coordinating activity, building strong working relationships and turning training requirements into clear, practical plans. You’re proactive, detail‑focused and genuinely care about supporting apprentices to develop the skills they need to succeed.

Essential

  • Experience in planning, coordination or scheduling roles
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience supporting structured training, learning or development programmes

  • Experience working with apprentices or technical training environments
  • Safeguarding or pastoral experience
  • Understanding of operational or technically focused roles

  • Generous holiday allowance (26 days + bank holidays)
  • Flexible benefit scheme, inc. private healthcare, dental insurance, technology plans, and more
  • Financial protection with 10x salary death in service and financial support if you’re unable to work due to long‑term illness or injury
  • Excellent family‑friendly provisions such as maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave
