About the role
We're looking for an Associate Account Manager to join our Hydrogen Customer Connections team until December 2027. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of the UK's energy transition, supporting stakeholder engagement, customer advocacy and business development activities across National Gas' hydrogen programmes. The UK's energy landscape is rapidly evolving as the industry responds to the need for greater energy security and the transition to net zero. Through major programmes including Humber Hydrogen and Project Union, National Gas is playing a critical role in developing the UK's future hydrogen infrastructure. As Associate Account Manager, you'll help strengthen relationships with key customers and stakeholders, supporting the successful delivery of our hydrogen ambitions. Working across Business Development, Commercial and wider Gas Transmission teams, you'll drive customer engagement, gather strategic insights and help shape the future direction of our hydrogen network. This role offers excellent exposure to one of the most exciting growth areas within National Gas and provides a valuable opportunity to build experience in stakeholder management, energy policy, commercial strategy and hydrogen development.
What you'll be doing
- Manage relationships with key external customers and stakeholders, supporting business development and customer experience objectives.
- Support customer advocacy activities that contribute to National Gas' policy and commercial goals.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder networks, helping to develop collaborative partnerships and engagement opportunities.
- Gather, analyse and report customer insights to support hydrogen business development activity, bid submissions and strategic planning.
- Support the tracking and management of customer-related risks, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Produce reports, dashboards and engagement plans to support effective governance and performance tracking.
- Work closely with colleagues across Gas Transmission and Commercial teams to support National Gas' hydrogen engagement programme.
What you'll bring
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across internal teams and external partners.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, with confidence communicating to a range of audiences.

- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, including the creation of reports, presentations and analysis.
- Good understanding of the UK energy sector and the wider energy transition landscape.
- Experience managing customer, client or stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of natural gas, hydrogen and emerging developments within the UK energy market.
