Location: Scotland & North region (Hubs: Livingston, Aberdeen, and Bishop Auckland)

Working pattern: Hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days a week on site

Travel: Regular travel within the region, including the Scotland & North hubs

Location requirement: Based within the Scotland & North region and within reasonable travelling distance of operational sites

About the role: As a Project Manager in our Scotland & North region, you'll lead the delivery of construction and asset investment projects across critical gas transmission infrastructure, including compressor station assets and associated above ground installations and pipelines. You'll manage projects from concept through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Why this role matters: The Scotland & North region is a strategically important part of the Gas Transmission network. It maintains compressor stations across Aberdeen, Kirriemuir, Avonbridge, Wooler and Bishop Auckland, and is home to the St Fergus North Sea Gas Terminal. Supported by key corporate and technical teams based in Livingston and Aberdeen, the region plays a vital role in maintaining energy security and operational resilience. In this role, you'll help deliver investment projects that strengthen critical national infrastructure and support the safe operation of assets that homes, businesses, and communities rely on every day. Your work will help ensure our network remains safe, reliable, and ready to meet future energy needs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead a portfolio of construction and investment projects across the gas transmission network
  • Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed technical specifications
  • Work closely with engineers, contractors, designers, and stakeholders to develop and deliver effective project solutions
  • Drive strong health, safety, environmental, and quality performance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, contracts, and commercial performance to achieve the best outcomes
  • Influence project designs to improve safety, buildability, maintainability, and whole-life asset value
  • Build strong working relationships across the business and with external partners to support successful project delivery

What you'll bring: This role would suit someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys delivering complex infrastructure projects in operational environments. You'll be comfortable working with technical specialists, contractors, and stakeholders, and have experience supporting projects involving critical mechanical assets and pipelines.

  • Proven experience delivering construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects from development through to completion
  • Engineering background with a strong understanding of mechanical, process, or operational assets
  • HNC/HND qualification, or equivalent, in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience working with high pressure gas assets or similar critical mechanical equipment within an industrial, energy, or utilities environment
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, risk management, and project controls
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasting costs, and overseeing commercial performance
  • Knowledge of contract management, including NEC4 contracts
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience working on gas transmission, energy, utilities, or other critical infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of compressor stations, terminals, pipelines, or above-ground installations
  • APMP qualification, or working towards accreditation
  • NEC4 accreditation, or working towards accreditation
  • Health, safety, environmental, or financial management training within a construction or engineering environment

Security clearance: This role is subject to National Security Vetting (NSV). Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC) throughout their employment.
