About the role
We’re recruiting for an Operations Technician (Control & Instrumentation bias) to join our team at Aberdeen, one of the UK’s most critical energy compressor stations. This is a unique, future-focused role combining hands‑on engineering expertise with a growing responsibility in operational technology (OT) cyber‑security. Funded through cyber programmes, the position plays a key role in ensuring both the performance and protection of critical infrastructure. You’ll operate across multiple disciplines, supporting site reliability while contributing to the evolving cyber security landscape within a highly regulated environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain, repair and optimise control and instrumentation systems and process plant equipment

- Support installation, testing and commissioning of plant upgrades and modifications
- Contribute to cyber security controls within OT systems, helping maintain compliance and reduce risk
- Assist in cyber audits, documentation and security assurance activities
- Work within safe systems of work, including permits, isolations and compliance procedures
- Support site projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Occasionally support out-of-hours work, overtime or site response activities when required
About you
You’re a hands‑on, adaptable technician who enjoys variety and thrives in an environment where no two days are the same. You’re just as comfortable working on instrumentation and plant systems as you are learning and contributing to cyber‑related activities. You can manage multiple priorities, pick up tasks quickly, and see them through with minimal supervision. You’re organised, proactive, and bring a down‑to‑earth, team‑focused approach to your work.
Key Experience & Skills

- Knowledge of OT/ICS cyber frameworks (e.g. IEC 62443)
- COMPEX or hazardous area certifications
- Experience working in regulated, safety‑critical or high‑hazard environments
